BrainQUANT reviews proposed studies, guides investigators on the effective use of human brain tissue, and coordinates access to precious specimens across collaborative research projects. With donor support, BrainQUANT will organise promising pilot studies with strong potential to lead to major NIH-funded discoveries in brain disease.
Internships
BrainQUANT is committed to training the next generation of neuroscientists by providing students and fellows from Columbia and partner programs with hands-on experience in postmortem human brain research. Through faculty mentorship, research support, and laboratory access, trainees gain the skills needed to advance discoveries in brain disease.
Human Brain Atlas
BrainQUANT is committed to sharing a human brain cell atlas and digital brain library with the scientific community, helping researchers understand human brain anatomy and disease pathology while designing stronger human brain studies. We have produced publicly accessible scanned slides from a wide range of psychiatric, neurodegenerative, and neurological diseases support education, collaboration, and discovery.
Brain Collection
BrainQUANT has collected more than 2,000 autopsy brains with detailed clinical, developmental, treatment, toxicology, and neuropathological data, creating an exceptional resource for studying psychiatric and neurological disease across the lifespan. Each brain is carefully examined, preserved, and monitored to support high-quality human brain research that can reveal how disease, adversity, medication, and biology shape the brain.
